The Walls Are Closing In

Its been so long since I have last written, I don’t even know where to begin. I guess not having posted something in while is a good thing in some small way because it means we have been working so hard at the house that I’ve had no time to sit down and share our progress. Just to give you an idea, a typical weekday consists of rushing to work after oversleeping, working a typical work day, leaving our jobs changing straight into work clothes, maybe make dinner for later but if not stop at Chipotle or hope my mom stops by with a meal, work on the current project (which these days is installing drywall) at the house until 10, 11 or sometimes midnight either just the two of us or with a friend, then going back to our host’s house to sleep and repeating it all the following day.

For the past couple of weeks, we have been working on the plumbing for the upstairs (adding drains and water lines for the laundry room, and main bathroom) and we also finished hanging all the drywall upstairs. It is so amazing to see the progression of our house come along, and I’m getting more and more excited about moving in.

I’m not gonna lie, the past few months have been incredibly difficult in so many ways. I understand that we chose this house, we chose to tear it up and rebuild it, we chose to live somewhere else while we work on it but it doesn’t change the fact that this is hard. There have been countless times I’ve had to decline or cancel plans with friends and instead go and work at the house. I just have to keep reminding myself that this is a short period of our lives compared to the grand scheme of things, and we will be so happy with the results when we move in.

I want to make a point to say thank you to my friends who have been so gracious, encouraging, helpful, and understanding during this whirlwind. It’s been wonderful knowing that you love and support me, even though I’ve been absent. Also, a huge thanks goes to our supportive parents who have come beside us and offered their hands, their time, and provided meals for us. Thank you!

I’ll be home for Christmas…
