Over the summer, I had the pleasure of working with my longtime friend, Jason Checkla. I’ve know Jason since we were in college where we studied the same degree program (Broadcasting). Thankfully, we’ve managed to stay in touch over the years. Among his many talents, Jason is an incredible photographer, and I always thought it would be so fun to collaborate with him. When I initially approached him about working together, he was totally game, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled.

Between takes in the downtown Saratoga area, I asked him about his business and how it all started. He explained that it began with his fascination in experimenting with different types of video and photo lenses, playing with lighting and focus. He purchased some lenses on Craigslist, and became more serious about still photography. He jokingly told me, that this hobby started to get really expensive with all the equipment he was buying, so he thought a great way to offset that was to start a business.

Jason has done really well for himself over the past year and half since he started Jason Checkla Photography, and genuinely loves taking photos. He’s also built up quite the portfolio of events which you can see on his website. I know from first hand experience how passionate he is about photography, and how professional he is with his clients. Below are some of my favorite shots from our photo session.

If you have an upcoming event that you would like to have captured, I highly recommend Jason Checkla Photography. You won’t be disappointed. To see more of his work you can follow him on Instagram, Facebook or his blog at JasonCheckla.com.

Jason lives in Glens Falls with his girlfriend Emily, their rescue dog Red, and two cats Nala and Gracie.
