Inspiration Boards

Lately I have really been needing some inspiration.  It’s not that I don’t have a pile of projects to complete, its that I completely lack motivation to finish them.  (You’ve never felt like that right?)  This week has felt totally unproductive, despite how incredibly busy I have been. When I lack motivation and inspiration, one of the activities I like to do is create what I call an inspiration board; some people also call them vision boards.  It is simply a board- which can be cork or card stock, whatever material works best for you, and a collection of photos, prints, and/or words that will inspire you.  It is incredibly simple, but so meaningful.  The inspiration board you see above is one that I created about four months ago when I was lacking inspiration at my job.  You might recognize it from when I posted it on my instagram. The supplies I typically use are a cork board, scissors, a stapler, decor catalogs and fashion magazines.

It’s that simple.

Below is one of my favorite inspiration boards that I’ve made.  I like it so much that I turned it into a necklace holder using thumb tacks as the hooks, and I painted the frame white to match the rest of the decor in the bedroom.  It is hanging right above my vanity.

I hope this post has inspired you!  What do you do to inspire yourself?

This is really a great idea. Many people who are in business for themselves are encouraged to do this so they can set goals. Some people hang up new cars, dream house or vacation or a college for their children. Some people use the fridge, but this is more organized and attractive.
What inspires me… is a walk with my favorite sales person in Pottery Barn. I get lots of ideas. Then to inspire myself is a walk through Joann’s or a new quilt store. Now if only I could get inspired to finish all my unfinished project. Hum—
Nice Job, Mags. Thanks for the inspiration. Now after I have something to go with a cup of coffee, I’ll get going. Love ya
