I love making jewelry.  When I was younger I made earrings and necklaces all the time as gifts for friends.  Today I’m going to show you how to make a super simple bracelet using a cabinet door hinge, jewelry chain and clasps.  Oh and you’ll also need jewelers pliers.

First you want to run the chain though the back of the 2 end holes of the hinge on one side.

Next, hold the chain with the hinge attached on the one side against your arm and measure halfway around your arm.

When you have the proper length, use the jewelers pliers to open one chain link where the end of the chain meets the halfway point of your wrist. Use the chain that you just measured for the one side to measure the other side of the bracelet.

Next use the jewelers pliers to open one end of the chain and slip one piece of the clasp on it, then close it over the other end of that same chain securing it to one end of the hinge.  Do the same to the other end of the hinge with the other piece of the clasp.

This hinge bracelet is such a darling piece of jewelry you can’t even tell it’s a made from a piece of hardware! Have you ever made an everyday item a piece of jewelery? I’d love to know!
