Valentines Day is this week.  I’ve really never been one who necessarily enjoys or looks forward to Valentines Day. *gasp!* But before you get all huffy with me hear me out.  Sure, the perks of Valentines Day are great don’t get me wrong. I just think love should be appreciated and celebrated every day- not just on a special occasion.

Chocolate is the most romantic candy, and the signature gift on Valentines Day besides roses. If you are someone who loves giving a hand made gesture then these truffles are the perfect gift, and they are unbelievably easy to make! On top of tasting amazing, they are also gluten free and vegan.

I used this recipe from another blogger and adapted it a bit, but still used the same proportions.  My ingredients are figs, walnuts, salt, cocoa powder, agave nectar (roughly 2 tablespoons) and my homemade vanilla extract. Important! Cut the stems off the figs before throwing them in the food processor.

After blending everything together, I formed 1 inch balls of the mixture and dipped the top in sprinkles.  I have had several people from coworkers to friends and family sample these amazing gluten free vegan truffles and got rave reviews! It’s the perfect gift to make your Valentine.

What do you think about Valentines Day? Old tradition or the hopeless romantic holiday?
